1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb, Cesar Diaz Modified

Beloved for their bell-like cleans and dynamic driven tones, blackpanel era Fender amps hold a justified position as the archetypes ot tone. Often copied, never bettered. The Deluxe Reverb is arguably the most desirable, lush tones at every tune, happy in the studio or on stage.  

This amp is host to a rare mod by Stevie Ray Vaughan’s legendary amp tech Cesar Diaz in 1990 and his signature and date are on the inside of the chassis. It is a desirable export model with older vintage irons added as part of the Cesar Diaz mod. 

The O/T and 1 choke are from a 1962 Tremolux but still running a pair of 6V6’s. As a result the amp is a fair bit louder than an ordinary Deluxe Reverb and has a great tone. It has a new Celestion G12-H fitted which sounds amazing and can deal with the extra power! The original speaker comes with the amp but requires reconing. 

Cosmetically this amp is in good condition, a few minor knocks and scratches in places. The original 1964 no logo grill cloth has one small hole but has hardly faded at all. The early original control panel (Fender Elec Company) has a few small scratches.

This amp lives up to its reputation. The mods make it pure Fender tone nirvana. The touch sensitivity is exquisite, from lush clean to gritty growl with a simple change in dynamics. The vibrato circuit is sumptuous and the reverb adds that lovely spanky depth to the sound. A truly inspiring amp.

Considered by most to be the zenith of Fender amp tone, this Deluxe Reverb is a must have and rare example of a Diaz modded export blackface.
