The Story

Cool, natural finish, big headstock 70s Strat. It doesn't get more "70s" than this! This one is in good overall condition with the odd ding and knock here and there. It's been used over the years, has had a refret and changed nut, and the finish has honeyed a little giving a very nice amber hue.
This one dates to early 1973. Neck stamp is FEB 73, serial number dates to '72, readable pots date to 49th week of '72 and the grey bottom pickups date to '73. All looks good under the hood! A "Natural" red stamp is present in the neck pickup cavity along with an Xavier Armenta stamp visible on the bottom of the neck.
Being an early '70s model you get two string trees mounted on the nitro finish headstock face as well as the bullet truss rod, bold Fender black decal and 6 F-Plate Chrome tuners to the rear. It's had a refret and a changed nut as is often the case these days. As a result it plays very well with a medium C neck profile and plenty of fret height. The Maple fingerboard is punctuated with black dot markers, and the Microtilt adjustable neck has the 3-bolt design of the period with a good neck pocket fit.
The multi-piece Ash body has a pleasant grain to it, the finish has darkened a little over the years which is contrasted nicely with the white 3-ply pickguard. Plastics all appear correct as does the wiring and components including the 'made in Mexico' CTS pots as used in 1972. The staggered polepiece pickups sounds great, lots of bell like tones at the neck with a sharper attack and cut at the bridge. A very versatile guitar and a cool piece of 70s Fender!
